Similar in process to foil stamping, embossing uses a metal die in combination with heat to transfer an image to paper. Unlike foil stamping, however, embossing requires a counter die; paper is pressed between two pieces of the die creating raised images out of the paper itself. Embossing can be either a single level or multi level depending on the desired effect.
